SmileyWorld makes significant gains in its global publishing program during 2015, with major plans to expand these in 2016.
- SmileyWorld launched a series of books with French licensee Livres du Dragon d’Or (division of Gruppo Planeta), which has been hugely successful with over 500,000 books sold in France alone. Due to this success the brand has continued to expand its licensing rights with Gruppo Planeta to global publishing rights for these books.
- By the end of 2015 SmileyWorld had published 37 titles with Livres du Dragon d’Or, titles include diaries, journals and calendars as well as SmileyWorld’s hugely successful sticker books for both kids and adults, which has become a global consumer trend.
- With already 19 titles planned for 2016, including exciting new formats, continued growth is expected in this category for the coming years.
Based on these success of SmileyWorld’s publishing wins to date, the brand is also expanding its program by tapping into the vast archive of visual content available in its library, and also by partnering up with authors for the first time to give added depth to the range of products. As a result, the brand is seeking new partnerships across a focused range of new categories: Partworks, Language Learning, Self-Help, Syndication/News, Young Adult Fiction – creating some really exciting opportunities for the brand in 2016.
